i was OBSESSED with 300 arguments but now i'm afraid to read more manguso! and thank you for helping me put my finger on what felt off about short n sweet. as soon as i saw the first few sentences i was hoping you'd include the "the lord forgot my gay awakening" line -- so much about it made me feel icky!!!
lol-- ikr. she works with some specific makeup artist that is known for doing a babydoll look on her clients and i think was the victoria's secret angel makeup person. but it's not like chappell roan where it's intentional drag, it feels like unintentional drag? but maybe they're trying to do a bit? i can't tell honestly
is this metacommentary on the commodification of faux-effortless femininity? or did the MUA get a tinder notification and wander away distracted? we will never know
re your thoughts about other types of writing / subscription ideas. What occurs to me is something like the "1000 True Fans" model that music creators started exploring when control over recorded music disintegrated in the wake of digital networks (https://kk.org/thetechnium/1000-true-fans/). The scale would need to be smaller. The concept might involve, say, establishing a relationship with 50 or 100 readers who are interested in your more personal, less review-oriented work, to the extent that over a year they would pay the equivalent of a days wage for access to it. Choice excerpts could on occasion be included in the regular newsletter, with a link to the subscription page.
