YES cringe is the appeal!!! and it has reached a fever pitch on TTPD that i'm not completely sure i can abide. two random taylor thoughts:

1) i saw a tiktok theory (lmao) that in down bad, "crying at the gym" might be the same "gym" from "betty"???? which tbh makes more sense than like, taylor crying at the free weights at equinox

2) "so high school" kind of reads to me like "i hate you but you're hot"? like "you know how to ball / i know aristotle" is a line i would only ever write about a rebound that i think is not that smart.

and thank you for the opportunity to share my bottom shelf <3

This theory about gym=gymnasium is so interesting! God the depths of scrutiny every word of her lyrics gets😹! To me it will always be crying on the stair master type gym, bc it’s just too human and relatable in light of the alien abduction of love.

I agree about “So High School”, there’s more going on there than just a crush! Yes, it does sound like she’s putting him down. And I mean—-I know it’s very romcom that they’re dating but I can’t imagine this dude is IT. Idk maybe she really needs to be with another American🤷🏻‍♀️. Also— what’s up with the random ass line in there “I’m laughing hearing voices like a mad man”???? That song has a secret darkness.

i initially enjoyed the gym line (and read it literally) until i remembered that the gym that taylor swift uses is most likely in her house with no one watching except a personal trainer who is contractually obligated to not notice anything uncomfortable

Her personal trainer at her home gym is probably also a certified psychologist so they can trouble shoot what comes up for her somatically when working out😹. I mean, if I could afford it, I would too lol
